A strong potential for development

Class40

The aim of Class40: to bring together talented amateurs and professionals in an atmosphere of conviviality and good racing.

Now in its 10th year, Class40 has fulfilled this goal, partly thanks to the rigorous Class Rules which limit costs and keep the fleet relatively homogenous. There are a number of avenues to be explored, but the class wishes to maintain a fair balance between performance and accessibility.

Class40s race in all the major offshore races:

Route du Rhum, Transat Jacques Vabre, Global Ocean Race,  Solidaire du Chocolat, Rolex Fastnet Race, Les Sables-Horta ..

All Purpose in Class40:

The research and development undertaken by the loft for the Mini 6.50s has found a new outlet in Class40.
Now envolved in Imoca 60, Tanguy De Lamotte won the Rolex Fastnet Race in 2009 and 2011 in Class40.; Tanguy has been racing with All Purpose sails forever. "Rémi Aubrun designed the sails for my first Mini and then he designed the sails for my Class40.  Our collaboration is most constructive. We sail together, and we do a great deal of development work together. The sail shapes are studied further based on what I feel on the water. We understand each other, and it works well. We do a lot of work on fabric too, particularly with Trilam®. I strongly believe in this product, and I like the idea of being part of this small team involved in the development. The investment and the feedback work both ways. Trilam® fabric has enabled me to win, and my experience in these races advances the development of this fabric."

Many former Mini sailors have stayed loyal to All Purpose: Thomas Ruyant (winner of the 2010 Route du Rhum), Aloys Le Claquin (2011 World Champion), Tanguy de Lamotte (winner of the Rolex Fastnet Race in 2009 and 2011), Stéphane Le Diraison (winner of the 2011 Les Sables-Horta), Pierre-Yves Lautrou, Cécile Poujol, Jorg Riechers (winner of the Solidaire du Chocolat in 2012, Atlantic Cup 2012 and Normandy Channel Race 2013).
